In the adolescent program, alongside their reading and math work, students have been tending sourdough starters and observing kombucha fermentation—watching what happens when something is fed, neglected, adjusted, or simply given time.

Students had worked alongside a retired baker from WheatFields, learning about sourdough and fermentation. They also toured the Kombucha Warehouse, where the owner sent them home with their own starter culture.

Life in the adolescent program is busy, sometimes noisy, and often unexpected. What stands out most is how naturally learning moves between ideas, experiences, and real work. When students are trusted with meaningful work, the connections tend to find them.
